8:00 am - 5:00 pm
On September 29, let’s walk to Snug Harbor. We will stop at a number of new structures being built in Staten Island. We will also visit “Postcards” a 9/11 memorial unlike any you may have seen.
Several years ago, I visited China and went to Suzhou to check out some of their gardens. I have to say they were quite beautiful. When I returned home, I happened to visit Snug Harbor with a friend and there I stood in the middle of a garden just like the ones that I had flown thousands of miles to see. It was the Chinese Scholars Garden at Snug Harbor! It looked as though it had been transplanted from China. I thought that it would be nice to have our group visit this wonderful center. We will also go into the Secret Garden, the Staten Island Museum and so much more. Let’s really check out Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Admission to Chinese Garden is $5.00 Adults/$4.00 Seniors.
The Staten Island Museum admission is $8.00 Ad/$5.00 Srs. There are several exhibitions (1) ” From Farm to City–A Richmond County Savings Foundation Legacy Exhibition”– it is a look at Staten Island’s unique history. (2) Staten Island Seen and much more.
There are other activities that you can do here that would be fun. There is the bamboo alley, the stunning allee of trees, the glass house and so many other unique gardens.
On our way to Snug Harbor, we will also stop to view some of the new structures and check the Staten Island Wheel status. We’ll discuss whether the wheel is going to be finished or will it be another project listed in the “never built projects”.
