Garden
Bayard Cutting Arboretum & Garden
We changed the date from 9/29 to 10/6 in order to check out the Dahlia Show by the Long Island Dahlia Society at Bayard.
On October 6 let’s visit New York State Park in Great River, Long Island. The park has an arboretum designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. There is also a manor designed by Charles C. Haight. (He designed most of the campus of the Episcopal General Theological Seminary in Chelsea.)
There is a free garden tour that we may try to get to early in the morning. We will get there by 11:00am for the free tour. This is our second NY State Park (the first was Planting Fields in Oyster Bay).

Manor House tour: We will visit the 60-room mansion which was built in 1886. It is a Tudor-style English country house. We will do a tour of 2 floors of the house. There is only one tour on Saturday and it is for only 15 persons. It is a first come first serve. Hopefully, we will be able to do the tour. Tour fee for the house: $12.00 per person.

There is an exhibit of Rick Mundy’s watercolors which we will check out when we do the Manor tour. Twenty-one of his paintings have been magazine covers.

BackUp Event: A 2:30 attic tour — If we are not able to tour the manor, we may do the attic tour. Tour fee for the attic: $10.00 per person.

Optional: The Hidden Oak Cafe inside the Manor House for those who wish to dine in a beautiful cafe.

Lunch: If you bring lunch (which I will), you will need to eat it prior or after the visit to Bayard. There is no picnicking on the grounds.
