There are mansions all over New York State and an especially beautiful one is the John D. Rockefeller estate, which we plan to visit on October 7th.  It was the childhood home of our Republican Governor & Vice President Nelson Rockefeller. The architects were Chester Holmes Aldrich and William Adams Delano with input from John D. Rockefeller. Nelson Rockefeller bequeathed it to the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP). We are now able to tour this beautiful estate.

There are several tours to choose from:

1) Kykuit Classic Tours (2 1/4 hrs) -This is the one for the group

Adults $28.00/Seniors 65+ $26.00/NTHP Members $18.00

2) Grand Tour (3 hrs)

Adults $40.00/Members $30.00/Did not have a Senior rate

3) Kykuit Timesaver Tour (1 1/2 hrs)

Adults $28.00/Seniors $26.00/Members $18.00

NOTE: As of 9/14 the periods between 12:15-4:00pmare pretty much open for you to make your reservations. I would like for us to try to get the 1:30 Classic Tour. If 1:30 is sold out when you make your reservations try to get the 2:00pm or 2:15pm Classic TourIf you have never done this tour, I do recommend it.

Philipsburg Manor

Another Historical Museum that you may want to visit is Philipsburg Manor. I did this tour and I was greeted by a slave in attire, telling us her story while working at Philipsburg. It was an incredible experience. I’m not sure if they still do this, but just to learn about the Phillips who owned so much of Westchester County is also a wonderful experience.
